  • Bands don’t provide enough variety. In one way, it is true that bands cannot provide as much variety as a DJ. However, this is a matter of communication. As long as you talk to them at least a couple of months before the Big Day, your band will be more than happy to prepare some songs if you really want them at your ceremony or reception.
  • DJs talk too much. No, they don’t, actually. A professional, experienced and actually good DJ will know when to talk, how to say it and, more importantly, he will know when enough talk is…enough.
  • It’s a good idea to hire a bar band or a friend as a DJ. It might feel that you are saving money by doing this, but the harsh truth is that it might be disappointing. A bar band or a club DJ may not have a lot of experience in dealing with a diverse crowd. Likewise, hiring a friend for your wedding is generally a bad idea (they might not be fully professional and, even if they are, you really don’t want your friends to spend your wedding as if they were at work, right?).
  • You absolutely have to decide between a DJ and a band. As a matter of fact, you don’t have to decide between the two. If you really want them both at your wedding, you can have the band play during the ceremony and the DJ mix at the reception.
